Water Competition
On Thursday, April 17th, Corey Davis, a Chelsea City Water Department employee attended the American Water Works Association Regional meeting for water/wastewater operators.  For this meeting water treatment personnel are encouraged to enter their drinking wter into a taste off competition against other utilities to find out who has the best tasting drinking water.  Out of nine total entries the City of Chelsea took first place.  The other entrants were the City of Fenton, Plainfield Twp., City of Ludington, City of Belding, City of Midland, Lansing Board of WAter and Light, City of Saginaw and M.H.O.G., last year's winner.  We received a plaque for winning the competition and will be entered into the state competition in September at the A.W.W.A. Annual Conference. 
 
New Part-Time Bookkeeper

We have offically hired a new part-time bookkepper who will start at the City Offices on Monday, May 5.

Laura Kaiser will be taking over payroll processing responsibilities as well as backing up human resources and utilty billing.  Laura is a local resident and is joining us from Hopp Electric.  Laura will be working 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Please stop by and help us welcome her.

Utility Rate Resolution

RESOLUTION


Whereas, the City of Chelsea conducted a comprehensive cost-of-service study on its City-owned utilities; and

Whereas, the cost-of-service study demonstrated that without a rate increase the adjusted operating income for the water and wastewater systems would not meet minimum target levels; and

Communters into Ann Arbor from Chelsea and western Washtenaw County will have a new transportation option beginning May 15th when AATA will begin operation of a new express bus.  Service will be operated Monday through Friday on a twice-daily basis between the Arctic Coliseum ice arena near I-94 in Chelsea, and four bus stops in Ann Arbor.
