Redevelopment Ready Communities
The City of Chelsea is working towards Redevelopment Ready Community Certification through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
To become "Redevelopment Ready" communities must demonstrate success in achieving a number of best practices identified by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation that help to improve, clarify, and streamline the local development process.
In January, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation completed an evaluation of the City's current progress in achieving the best practice. The RRC Baseline Report can be found here.
The City has fulfilled the following RRC Best Practice recommendations since the Baseline Report was published:
- Add desired skill sets to the boards, committees and commissions web page or the boards, committees, commissions handbook (Best Practice 4.1.1)
- Create a spreadsheet on which training goals can be established, upcoming trainings can be identified and attendance can be tracked. Reference the spreadsheet consistently to identify trainings and track progress made toward training goals (Best Practice 4.2.2)
- Reference the spreadsheet consistently to identify trainings and track progress made toward training goals (Best Practice 4.2.3)
- As RRC Best Practice items are completed, add them to the website (Best Practice 5.2.2)
