Chelsea's Fallen Officers

In 2006, Chelsea suffered the sudden loss of two officers killed in a helicopter accident in Scio Township while providing aerial support for officers who were involved in a foot pursuit.   Police Chief R. Scott Sumner and Reserve Officer Matthew Tuttle are remembered by Chelsea residents with a Chelsea memorial in the front of the McKune Memorial Library and at the Washtenaw 100 Club Memorial Park in Ypsilanti, Michigan as shown below.
